The "Mannequin Challenge" was a massive viral internet trend that exploded in late 2016, and it was deeply tied to the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd.

In the challenge, groups of people would freeze in action poses like statues while a moving camera filmed them. The official soundtrack for almost every video was Rae Sremmurd’s hit song, "Black Beatles" featuring Gucci Mane.

The challenge completely transformed the success of the song. Thanks to the viral videos, "Black Beatles" skyrocketed all the way to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
