The biggest AI fail of 2026 just gave us a new term: Vibe Citing.

KPMG published a report on agentic AI.

But when researchers at GPTZero reviewed it, they found that only 5 out of 45 citations actually matched their sources.

The rest were fabricated, misquoted, or linked to things that don't even exist.

There were even AI deployment case studies involving UBS, Transport for London, and Emirates Airline that were either heavily distorted or completely made up.

And this is coming from a billion-dollar firm that charges millions for AI services.

The lesson?

Just because something looks professional doesn't mean it's true.

We're entering the era of vibe citing.

Be careful who, and what, you trust.
