Micron Technology (MU) reports fiscal Q3 2026 earnings after the market close Wednesday, with Wall Street expecting record-breaking results. Analysts are projecting adjusted earnings of $20.76 per share a tenfold increase from $1.91 per share in the same quarter last year. Revenue consensus stands at $35.75 billion, a 284% year-over-year increase from $9.3 billion. Options markets are pricing in an implied move of approximately 14% in either direction.
Despite an eight-quarter streak of beating both earnings and revenue estimates, Micron shares have closed lower after six of those eight reports. Freedom Capital Markets Chief Market Strategist Jay Woods noted, "HBM is the growth story, but guidance is the stock story."
Micron signed a multi-year memory deal with Anthropic earlier this week and took a stake in the AI lab, sending shares to a record before Tuesday's Korea-led memory selloff which saw Samsung and SK Hynix each fall more than 12% dragged MU down roughly 13%. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives called the move a "healthy pullback" and a "gut check moment" on CNBC's Closing Bell, arguing AI demand significantly outpaces supply.
On prediction markets, Kalshi traders are wagering on specific words CEO Sanjay Mehrotra will use on the call. "Portfolio" leads at 89%, followed by "Anthropic" at 71%, "Nvidia" at 64%, and "Inventory" at 56% reflecting Micron's previous guidance that it can meet only half to two-thirds of current customer demand. "Tariff" sits at just 6% and "Gaming" at 14%, suggesting traders expect the AI narrative to dominate. On Polymarket, traders give Micron a 96% chance of topping the roughly $19.72 EPS consensus, with an 80% probability of clearing $30 billion in DRAM revenue well above the Street's $27.4 billion estimate.
Soft Q4 guidance could still pressure shares even on a record quarter. A confident HBM outlook could ripple straight to Nvidia.
