Let’s talk about worst (and most controversial) famous logo rebrand in 2025… Cracker Barrel.

Cracker Barrel is an American restaurant known for their Southern comfort foods and they’re also an old country retail store that sells nostalgic, old fashioned themed goods.

Earlier in August, they decided to rebrand their logo, which carries so much heritage, history, and that southern country vibe people love… to something more minimal, clean, and modern.

The main issue was that they took away the man in the logo, who was the uncle of Cracker Barrel’s founder, Dan Evins. His Uncle Herschel really represented the brand’s values of warmth, soul, and that southern hospitality.

So you can imagine the outrage Cracker Barrel lovers experienced when saw that the new logo appeared more corporatized, cold, and minimal.

Even President Trump had something to say about it, saying they should go back to their old logo and admit their mistake.

Now, why do big companies tend to do this where they’re “fixing” what isn’t broken? It’s usually because they’re seeing their sales stagnate or decline over time so it’s their attempt to modernize the brand in order to stay relevant.

Right after they announced their rebrand, their stock price dropped over 7% and they lost nearly $100-$200 million in shares. A week later, they shared a post saying that they’ve listened to the people and are reverting back to their old logo.

Their stock price bounced back up to over 8% after they went back to the original logo but their rebrand attempt overall costed them $700 million.

What do you think of their rebrand? Was going back to their old logo the right move?
