Football fever is in full swing, and while the players have been making headlines, history is being made across the FIFA World Cup officiating team too.

🇺🇸 Kathryn Nesbitt was part of the first all-American, all-women officiating crew at a men’s FIFA World Cup, alongside Brooke Mayo and Tori Penso, for the match between Czechia and South Africa on 18 June at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

🇲🇽 Mexican referees Katia García and Sandra Ramírez made their FIFA World Cup debuts, appointed as fourth official and reserve assistant referee respectively for the match between the Netherlands and Japan.

🇺🇸 Brooke Mayo became the first publicly out LGBTQ+ match official to officiate at a men’s FIFA World Cup.

🇺🇸 Tori Penso became the second woman in history to referee a men’s FIFA World Cup match and the first American woman to do so.
