Pelvic-shoulder decoupling. The ability for your hips to rotate independently while your shoulders stabilize—or vice versa.

Most rotational athletes never train this in isolation. They just throw harder, swing faster, spike with more effort. But when the hips and shoulders can’t separate cleanly, force leaks. Power spills. Compensation builds.

This drill forces the separation. Hands stay grounded. Hips rotate through full range. Shoulders stabilize against the movement. The obliques, lats, and spinal engine have to coordinate rotation and counter-rotation simultaneously.
Swiss ball creates instability—so the nervous system can’t cheat. It has to organize in real time.

Hip rotations. Shoulder rotations. Around the worlds. Oblique lifts. All teaching the same thing: your hips and shoulders don’t move together—they move in opposition.

That’s spinal engine mechanics. That’s how the body was designed to create and transfer rotational force.
