## Caption

IBM just built the first chip below 1nm. Its new 0.7nm node packs nearly 100 billion transistors onto a die the size of a fingernail, almost double the density of its 2nm chip. The trick is a 3D “nanostack” architecture that stacks transistors vertically instead of just shrinking them, claiming up to 50% more performance or 70% better efficiency.
