Indian Railways has taken a major step towards improving menstrual hygiene access for women passengers by installing 500 free sanitary napkin vending machines across 175 stations in the Delhi, Ambala, Firozpur, Moradabad and Lucknow divisions of Northern Railway. The initiative, implemented in partnership with Indus Towers, ensures round-the-clock access to sanitary pads, helping women and girls travel with greater comfort, dignity and confidence.

With millions of women using the railway network every day for work, education and healthcare, the initiative aims to make public transport more inclusive and supportive.
