The Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office moved into Number 10 in 2011, when David Cameron was Prime Minister, after being adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.⁠

Since then, he has seen off Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer.⁠

According to Downing Street, Larry’s official duties include greeting guests, inspecting security defences and “testing antique furniture for napping quality”.⁠

At this point, he’s less of a pet and more of a political institution.⁠
