Marie Maynard Daly (1921–2003). In 1947, she was the first African-American to receive a Ph.D. from #columbiauniversity and the first African-American woman in the US to earn a Ph.D. in #chemistry. She had a distinguished career researching medical applications of proteins, and was one of the 30 women scientists to attend the conference that resulted in the groundbreaking "The Double Bind: The Price of Being a Minority Woman in Science (1976)".
