In Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche wrote that someone without a sense of humor is like a living corpse.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about adults in their 40s who proudly wear being “offensive” or “elitist” as a badge of honor. And look, I’ll be the first to raise my hand here—I used to use that exact defense mechanism. Coming from a sociocultural background like Black Metal, feeling superior and faking a hilarious level of elitism was the currency.

But let’s be real: how "elite" can you truly be when you’re glued to a keyboard or an Instagram screen, unable to step outside your comfort zone? It’s easy to judge someone through a tiny digital window, completely ignoring the complex reality behind it.

As we say in Spain, "A quien le pica, ajos come" (if it itchy, you’re the one who ate the garlic). We only react intensely to the things that trigger our own insecurities or our sense of the ridiculous.

Social media is a giant projection screen. We share our ideas, our passions, and our human inconsistencies. But instead of introspection, people jump to react.

The ultimate tantric joke is that the things we desperately want to attack in others are usually the exact things we secretly long for, envy, or refuse to heal within ourselves.

We are all born to die, and our life’s evolution is what matters. True humor isn't about hiding behind an "edgy" persona; it's the ability to laugh at your own ego.

Before you claim how "offensive" or superior you are, ask yourself: Are you actually alive, or are you just a rigid ego operating a corpse?
