The most valuable hospitality asset is no longer the hotel. It’s the audience.

One of the most interesting shifts in hospitality is that some of the largest hotel groups are starting to look less like hotel companies and more like audience businesses.

And I think that raises an interesting question:

What is the most valuable asset in hospitality?

Is it the hotel?
Or is it the audience?

Because increasingly, the businesses capturing the most value aren’t necessarily the ones owning the room.
They’re the ones owning the relationship.
The loyalty programme.
The customer data.
The behavioural intelligence.
The distribution layer.
Which is why I think the future of hospitality becomes less about room inventory and more about demand ownership.
The most valuable hospitality businesses of the next decade may not be the ones with the most hotels.
They may be the ones with the strongest direct relationship to travellers.
