After my experiencing my father and godfather’s death, there were days when I stopped reaching out.

I wasn’t looking for attention.

I wasn’t angry.

I just didn’t have the energy to explain what was happening inside me.

From the outside, I probably looked fine.

I still answered messages.

I still smiled.

I still showed up.

But inside, I was quietly hoping someone would notice that I wasn’t really there.

Grief doesn’t always sound like crying.

Sometimes it sounds like silence.

Sometimes it’s the message you never send.

The invitation you decline.

The call you don’t return.

The version of yourself that slowly disappears into “I’m okay.”

If someone you love has gone quiet, don’t assume they need space.

Sometimes the people who say the least are carrying the most.

And if you’re the one who’s gone quiet…

I hope you know that you don’t have to find the words before you deserve to be loved.
