I read that quote and immediately thought about grief.

Not because loss is beautiful.

Not because suffering is something we should be grateful for.

If I could have my father back, I would choose that every single time.

But grief has shown me things I never understood before.

How deeply we can love.

How much people matter.

How fragile life really is.

How much courage it takes to keep showing up when your heart is broken.

The rocks are not the gift.

The love is.

The memories are.

The way we keep carrying people with us long after they’re gone is.

I used to think grief was about learning how to let go.

Now I think it’s about learning how to stay connected in a different way.

Some days that connection looks like tears.

Other days it looks like laughter.

A song.

A photo.

A story.

A favorite meal.

A moment where you suddenly feel close to them again.

And maybe that’s why the water keeps flowing.

Not because the rocks disappear.

But because love finds a way through them.
