🥩🍟 Could your diet be contributing to your joint pain?

Most people know that certain foods can trigger gout attacks, but many don’t realize that diets high in ultra-processed foods, sugary foods, and fried foods may also increase inflammation throughout the body.

🦶 Gout occurs when uric acid crystals build up inside a joint, causing sudden pain, redness, and swelling.

🍩 Foods and drinks high in sugar, alcohol, and processed ingredients can increase the risk of gout flares in susceptible individuals.

🙋‍♀️ But even in those who are not predisposed to developing gout, how does food potentially cause inflammation? Well, approximately 70-80% of your body’s immune cells are found in and around your gastrointestinal tract, so the food you eat can definitely influence inflammation in your whole body.

🌾 For some people, gluten-containing foods may also contribute to symptoms, particularly if they have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.

🥗 While there’s no perfect diet for everyone, focusing on whole foods, lean proteins like wild-caught salmon or chicken, fruits like blueberries, vegetables like spinach, and adequate hydration is a great place to start.

Have you ever noticed certain foods make your joints feel worse? Let me know in the comments!
