In brief, my answer was “no”.

🚨 Obviously, this is just meant to be a joke.  As an orthopedic surgeon, I am aware that some of us (and certainly other types of surgeons) can display quite an ego at times, especially in the operating room. 

👉 While you definitely want your surgeon to have great confidence in any procedure they’re doing, you certainly don’t want them to go overboard to the point where they think they can do no wrong.  That is when having too big of an ego can become dangerous.

🏥 There is an old saying in healthcare that “If you don’t humble yourself, medicine will humble you.” Just when you think you know it all, something happens that you were not expecting.  Medicine and surgery is still an art, not an exact science.

💪 So be confident in what you are doing, but also be aware that you are not infallible and should always respect feedback from your colleagues and patients, positive or negative.
