Most people have no idea what’s in their tap water. And I didn’t either until I looked it up.

Go to ewg.org/tapwater, type in your zip code, and see for yourself. The database shows every detected contaminant in your local water supply and how it compares to health guidelines. Some of what comes up isn’t even regulated by the EPA.

That’s exactly why I switched to a reverse osmosis filter. Standard filters like Brita use activated carbon which is great for taste and odor but leaves a lot behind. RO forces water through a semipermeable membrane that removes contaminants at the molecular level.

I use AquaTru. It’s a countertop RO system so no installation needed, and it has a remineralization filter which most RO systems don’t have. Since RO strips everything out including beneficial minerals, that last stage adds them back in.

And if you’re filtering your drinking water but not your shower water, worth knowing — your skin absorbs what it’s exposed to and you’re also inhaling steam. The AquaTru shower filter is an easy fix for that.
