TRIGGER WARNING: A security guard in North County San Diego was hauled off in handcuffs after video reportedly showed him firing a Taser into a man’s face at point blank range.

The incident reportedly happened at Park 101 in Carlsbad.

Video circulating online appears to show the security guard standing extremely close before deploying the Taser directly toward the man’s face.

That is dangerous.

That is excessive.

And that is exactly why security guards need accountability too.

Because a badge, uniform, or security shirt does not give someone the right to escalate a situation into violence.

Tasers are not toys.
They are weapons.
And using one at someone’s face at close range can cause serious injury.

According to reports, police later led the security guard away in handcuffs.

Now the public needs answers.

What led up to this?
Was the man armed?
Was there an actual threat?
Why was a Taser fired into his face?
And what charges, if any, will follow?

Security work should not mean abusing power.

And when force is used like this, it needs to be investigated fully.
