Dalton Rushing and Shohei Ohtani appeared to be out of sync during the Dodgers’ game against the Twins. A passed ball led to a run scoring, and there were several moments where Ohtani looked visibly frustrated with the communication and pitch-calling behind the plate.

One of the most notable moments came when Ohtani wanted to challenge a pitch using the ABS system, but Rushing didn’t think it was worth challenging. Ohtani insisted, and replays showed he was right—the pitch was called a strike. The moment only added to the perception that the two weren’t on the same page.

It’s still early, and Rushing remains one of the Dodgers’ most promising young players. However, if communication issues like these continue, they could become a real concern heading into the postseason, where even the smallest mistakes can change the outcome of a series.
