“Remember that we tend to find what we’re looking for. If we look for the bad, we’ll find plenty. If we look for the good, we’ll find that instead.” ~ The Grace Marriage by Brad and Marilyn Rhoads

I have struggled with what my body looks like now vs what I looked like when I was competing full time as a CrossFit Games Athlete.

Back not as muscular, legs not as defined, not able to lift as much weight, not able to do as many gymnastics movements unbroken. Notice a trend there? All negative.

I catch myself saying and thinking these things. Why am I doing this? Most likely because I’m a type A person and I feel like I should always be improving, leveling up, getting better. But I’m comparing this version of myself, 2026, to my 2018/2019 version of myself.

I talk to my clients about where we are now, where we used to be and where we are headed. Reflection is very important.

I am not perfect, I have my own struggles. I overcame a period of anorexia, a period of binge eating and bulimia and now have a healthy relationship with food but that came with lots of work.

I try to reframe my mindset and focus on what I am thankful for: a working body, a comprehending mind, the ability to function by myself and not need assistance.

Our mindset is a powerful thing and can take us down a positive or negative path. Learning to adjust our perspective and use it for positive is a lot better than negative.
