For two thousand years, women across the Eastern world, modern day Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asia and South Asia, ruled  empires, led armies, wrote poetry and read the stars. They weren’t silent; they were silenced, written out by their own chroniclers and by a West that only ever looked to Greece and Rome. So much of our history was never written down, it survives in myth, in folk tales, in the stories passed from grandmother to grandchild. I’ve made it my mission to bring these women back.
