OpenAI just previewed GPT-5.6.

The new model family includes three versions:

- Sol for frontier-level work.
- Terra for everyday tasks at lower cost.
- Luna for fast, high-volume use.

The biggest one is GPT-5.6 Sol, which OpenAI says is a major jump from GPT-5.5 and its strongest model yet for coding and cybersecurity.

But access is limited for now.

Only a small group of trusted partners can use it in Codex and the API, partly because of U.S. government concerns around powerful AI models.

This is where AI is heading:
More powerful models.
More government oversight.
More competition between OpenAI and Anthropic.
