The 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers went to the NBA Finals and won the NBA Championship by pulling off what many NBA fans think is the best comeback in sports history.

The Cavaliers fell behind 3-1 in the 2016 NBA Finals against the 73-9 Golden State Warriors, the team with the greatest regular season record in NBA history. Stephen Curry was the unanimous NBA MVP, Klay Thompson was one of the greatest shooters ever, Draymond Green was in his prime, and the GS Warriors looked like they were about to complete the greatest season basketball had ever seen.

No team had ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals. Then LeBron James happened. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving refused to let Cleveland’s championship dreams die. LeBron delivered 41 point performances in Games 5 and 6 before recording one of the greatest Game 7 performances in basketball history. Kyrie Irving hit arguably the biggest shot in NBA Finals history, drilling a three point shot over Stephen Curry with less than a minute to go. Kevin Love followed it up with one of the biggest defensive possessions of his career, locking down Curry when it mattered most.

The Cleveland Cavs erased a 3-1 series deficit, stunned the GSW in Oracle Arena, one of the most electric sports stadiums, and delivered Cleveland its first major professional sports championship across the NBA, NFL, and MLB in 52 years.
