Today, I am 3 years sober. For me, sobriety wasn’t about hitting rock bottom or overcoming a major problem. I simply wanted to live a cleaner, healthier life. I was tired of wasting days recovering from hangovers, and I wanted to be fully focused on becoming the best version of myself.

As my career grows and I become more known to new people, I feel it’s important reshare the message as it will continue to impact more people.

There are still days when I miss parts of my old life. There are mental battles, stressful moments, and times when a drink sounds like it would feel good in the moment. But I’ve learned that temporary relief isn’t worth sacrificing the life I’ve worked so hard to build.

I’ve gone to open-bar events, international music festivals, sporting events, and casual nights out with friends where I was probably one of the only sober people there.

And I’ve learned something along the way: the fun was never in the alcohol. It was in the people, the experiences, the memories, and being fully present for all of it. If anything, I’ve enjoyed those moments more because I remember them clearly and wake up the next day feeling like myself.

What keeps me going are the goals I’ve set for myself and the vision I have for my future. I’ve also learned the importance of healthy outlets—leaning on friends and family, talking things through, working with a therapist, staying active, and allowing myself to process emotions instead of trying to escape them.

At the time, I had no idea where this decision would lead. Since then, I’ve left a career, gone back to school, moved across the country, made sacrifices, chased a dream, and have my “get to job” vs. a “have to job”. I’ve had the opportunity to cover incredible sporting events, meet amazing people, and experience things I never imagined possible.

Three years later, I’m grateful for every lesson, every challenge, and every person who has supported me along the way.

Looking back at where I was and where I am now, it’s amazing what one decision can lead to.

3 years sober. One day at a time. ❤️

Humbled ♾️ Grateful
