Meet Andres Pena, '26, a first-generation LoyolaSellinger graduate!

Andres double-majored in sustainability management and international business, with a minor in political science, blending his interests in environmental systems, global markets, and public policy. Outside the classroom, he brought these passions to life as a student intern with Loyola’s Office of Sustainability and as a Service Coordinator for Loyola’s CCSJ.

Within LoyolaCCSJ, Andres deepened his understanding and love for the city of Baltimore. "I can confidently say my four years at Loyola have shaped me to become a much more independent version of myself. That’s not to mention the rich, distinct culture you experience in a city like Baltimore and Loyola’s small campus, which makes finding your community much easier. Overall, I gained improved logistical and administrative skills which I will take with me through graduate school and beyond, along with a deeper appreciation for Baltimore, the city I consider my second home."

Andres filled the rest of his busy schedule with on-campus activities, including serving in the student government (LoyolaMDSGA), chairing the Environmental Committee for Loyola’s Rotaract (LoyolaRotaract), and competing in three International Business Ethics and Sustainability Case Competitions. In between, he still found time for Loyola_Intramurals basketball and LoyolaConcertChoir, and working as a Construction Management Intern for ThePortAuthority_NY_NJ!

"College is a tremendous period of growth. A key lesson I’ve learned at Loyola is to allow grace for mistakes. What matters most is taking those lessons to heart and becoming a better person, for yourself and for others."

This fall, Andres will pursue a Master of Urban Planning at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, continuing his passion for building more sustainable and equitable communities.
