Walked into the studio with davidoramirez & its_cecily a few weeks ago. Cecily picked up some coffees, we all sat and talked about life, and then eventually got into writing. One amazing thing about writing sessions is that there is this space to share and pray and just be friends. The writing always comes after those moments. Anyways, loved catching up with my friends about their life and then reminiscing about the  time Cecily came to my new house and we made soup and ate it on the floor because I didn’t have furniture yet haha. One of the things we talked about was the ability to have peace and joy in the middle. In the middle of the chaos, in the waiting, the pain, the doubts, the questions, to still somehow have peace and joy. How is this possible?! Well, we all know the only way is Jesus. Because of Jesus we can still rejoice, because of Jesus we still have hope, because of Jesus we can rest. I have seen so many miracles in my life and this video was one of those moments. When we were writing, I said “yeah, I remember this time me and my kids were dancing and raising this flag” … that’s where that lyric came from. When songwriters write songs, or authors write books, they are writing from a real place, and hoping that something they say/share from their own story will help you in yours. It’s the whole point. With that, we may not know the details of each others story, but we can know the God of the story. All of our stories should point back to one thing, the only one worthy, Jesus. Keep raising your flag of victory, and keep dancing even when you haven’t seen the promise…yet. Also, these are just demos I’m sharing here, straight from the writing session after singing it down one time. I’m not sure if these songs will get recorded or not, maybe… but I’m grateful for this space to share the process, and parts of my story in hopes that it encourages you in yours. Keep hope alive… in the “middle of a miracle”  and, always dance with your kids 🚩
