“You belong. You are loved. You are sent.”

Here is the homily of President Fr. David Ciancimino, S.J., during this year’s Baccalaureate Mass celebrating the Class of 2026.

“Everything we do here … has been rooted in purpose. Not simply to teach you, but to assist in your formation as a person. You have always been at the center.”

Faculty in academic regalia led the procession into Scaccia Auditorium, seniors presented yellow roses to their mothers and other impactful females in their lives near the end of Mass, and afterwards friends, family and faculty shared smiles in our Higgins Hall foyer. 

The Canisius faculty were honored with a lengthy ovation near the end of the Mass, and David Barczak ’26 offered Words of Gratitude on behalf of his class. 

Many members of the Class of 2026 participated in the Mass, including our handbell and guitar ensembles, the chorus and pianist James Eskra ’26:
