This is the kind of headline we hate to see. But we believe it's important to bring light to stories like this because we know that when systems operate behind closed doors, they often fail the very children they're supposed to protect.⁠ ⁠

No child should have to face abuse or neglect while in state custody.⁠
⁠
And state custody should not even be the place for a child. At LCCR, our work is rooted in the simple belief that children are safer when they remain connected to their families, communities, and other support systems, not locked away in institutions where oversight can fail and harm can go unseen.⁠

Many of you know we fight to keep children out of prisons, but we also fight to improve the conditions of those facilities for the children who do end up there. Our work will continue to make sure things like this don't.⁠
