Photos by joelsartore | This peculiar-looking primate is a critically endangered pied tamarin. A species of marmoset, these monkeys are known for their distinct forms of communication. For example, tongue flicking, in which the tamarin moves its tongue rapidly in and out of its mouth over its lips, can be a sign of recognition, as well as an expression of anger or curiosity.
