Unsung Hero Award 🏆

Huge congratulations to our second winner, Ollie Bluff, University of Nottingham 🙌

Ollie has been involved with unruc club since 2019 when they joined on a placement year with the first xv. While it was only mandatory for him to attend home games, he was present at every game that year home and away and attended training sessions, helping students with rehab and strappings. After covid he returned to the club volunteering his time alongside the head physio. 

He also developed a new injury reporting system for the performance squad to try and minimise the time a player spent injured and untreated, increasing our squad availability. Over this year he also started mentoring the younger students who were on placement with the side. 

Since qualifying as a physio in 2024 he has continued to volunteer his time to the club. This culminated in him being asked to help physio at the touch rugby world cup, a testament to the great work he had done in Nottingham over the years. In 2024/25 he stepped up into the role of Head physio balancing this role alongside another role for Championship side Calday RFC.

Now in his 5th year working with the club, he has overseen almost 100 fixtures, and countless training and triage sessions in which he has helped thousands of students, developed many student practitioners and improved overall player welfare and wellbeing.
