For the first time in South Carolina, a rapid-deployment program has been created to support survivors of suicide loss.

Officials said the Pickens County-based program began using Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Teams on Wednesday.

The teams are part of a joint partnership between the nonprofit Half a Sorrow Foundation and the Pickens County Coroner's Office.
