An outpouring of community support helped prevent 12 dogs from being euthanized at the Oconee Humane Society, after an urgent plea for help Monday.

Though the immediate crisis has passed, staff said fosters, adopters and volunteers are needed as the shelter enters the busiest, most challenging season of the year.
