## Caption

There’s something almost hypnotic about watching wheat move in the wind. 

Growing it has been one of the wildest experiments in our garden yet. We’re a grow-local, buy-local household through and through, so instead of barley for brewing, I planted this red winter wheat from wood.prairie.family.farm 

Now comes the real adventure: harvest, thresh, winnow. The biggest hurdle? Sending it off for testing to make sure it’s safe to eat after it lodged back at the end of May.
