It’s never just about getting shots up. It’s the sound of the ball. The squeak of your shoes. The trash talk. The competition. The laughs after someone hits a tough shot. The “run it back” after every game. For that hour or two, nothing else matters. You’re not thinking about work. You’re not thinking about stress. You’re just present. I think that’s why so many of us fall in love with this game. Not because basketball solves our problems… but because it gives us a place to leave them behind, even if it’s only for a little while.
