The body of a baby was discovered inside a portable toilet at a music festival in rural Michigan over the weekend, leading police to seek assistance from the public.

According to the Michigan State Police, the remains were discovered by an employee of a bathroom maintenance company during routine checks on Sunday morning, the final day of the #ElectricForest festival. Authorities have not yet determined the baby’s gender, nor have they identified any parent, guardian, or individual connected to the infant. An autopsy was conducted on Monday, revealing that the full-term baby was breathing at birth. While the Michigan State Police have not disclosed the cause of death, sources informed News 8 that the examination found fluid in both the baby’s lungs and stomach. At this time, the death has not been classified as a homicide.

The festival, which began on Thursday, typically draws tens of thousands of attendees for electronic dance music and jam band performances. Most festival-goers camp at the 2,000-acre Double JJ Resort, located near the shores of Lake Michigan.
