According to wsbtv, the Grantville Police Department is calling out the viral “Benadryl Challenge,” which encourages participants to take excessive amounts of the over-the-counter allergy medication in an attempt to experience hallucinations.

Authorities say some videos circulating online have promoted taking up to 12 Benadryl tablets at once. However, health officials warn that exceeding the recommended dosage can lead to severe and potentially deadly consequences.Possible side effects of taking too much Benadryl include nausea, seizures, heart complications, and, in some cases, death.
