On this date in 1999, Chris Jericho signed with the World Wrestling Federation. Jericho had grown frustrated in WCW, in part over the company’s refusal to let him wrestle Goldberg, and he made the jump to the WWF. He debuted weeks later, on the August 9 episode of Raw, interrupting The Rock and introducing himself as “Y2J.” Jericho went on to become one of the most decorated stars of the era, winning the Intercontinental and European Championships, and in 2001 he became the first Undisputed WWF Champion.
