We are thrilled to welcome a familiar face back to Glenside, as alumni Mary Murray ‘20 has been named the Head Softball Coach here at Arcadia! She becomes the 6th Head Coach in the program’s history.

One of the most decorated players in program history, Murray comes back home after spending 6 years as an assistant coach at Division III powerhouse Rowan University. During her time with the Profs, she was a part of 4 World Series runs, 4 NJAC Tournament titles, and mentored a pitching staff that was consistently in the top 5 ERA in the nation. 

Murray was a 3x All-MAC selection during her career, losing her senior year to the pandemic in 2020. She was MAC Pitcher of the Year and NFCA First Team All-Region in 2019 with a 0.86 ERA, helping lead AUSB to a historic conference championship title and program-first NCAA Tournament appearance. As a senior, she was named Arcadia’s Female Senior Athlete of the Year and was the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete for Softball in 2020. 

She graduated magna cum laude from Arcadia in 2020 with a degree in Global Media, and spent semesters abroad in Australia and the UK. She earned her master’s in Communications in 2021 from Johns Hopkins University. 

Here’s what Coach Murray has to say about returning home to Arcadia:

“I couldn’t be more excited to be back home and have the opportunity to lead Arcadia Softball. This program and University has helped shape me into the person I am today, and there truly is nothing like the Arcadia community. 

To have such a truly global perspective on every aspect of your education prepares you to make an impact in a globalized, connected, multicultural world. There is nowhere else where you will get the opportunities to learn, grow, explore, and compete like you will at Arcadia. I can’t wait to get on the field and work toward bringing another MAC title back to Glenside.”
