To the shooter, it can look like there's plenty of room. To the goalie, every inch matters.

Goaltending is one of the most demanding positions in sports. It's a game of anticipation, angles, and split-second decisions. One moment you're squared up to the shooter, and the next you're exploding across the crease to stop a backdoor pass or reacting to a deflection you never saw coming.
The puck can travel over 100 mph, leaving goalies with only fractions of a second to read the play, react, and make the save. It isn't just about quick reflexes, it's about positioning, patience, and trusting countless hours of practice.

What I admire most about goalies is their mindset. They know they'll be tested. They know mistakes are impossible to hide. Yet after every goal against, they reset, refocus, and prepare for the very next shot. That mental resilience is every bit as impressive as the highlight-reel glove saves and sprawling pad stacks.
Some of hockey's biggest moments are created because of the player standing in the crease. The saves that steal a game. The calm that settles a team. The confidence that gives everyone in front of them a chance to play their game.
