Most people bolt on coilovers and wonder why their Z suddenly feels like it's trying to swap ends mid-corner. Here's what's actually happening underneath you.

1. Your 350Z runs a multi-link rear with five separate arms — upper, lower, compression, tension, and toe. Each one controls a different axis of movement, and none of them are redundant. Lose geometry on one and the whole system compensates badly.

2. The BRZ uses a simpler double-wishbone setup that's more forgiving at stock ride height. The Z's multi-link is technically superior but way more sensitive to changes — which is why it rewards proper setup and punishes lazy ones.

3. That loose, sketchy rear feel most Z owners complain about usually comes down to the rear toe link. Under load, the stock stamped steel arms flex just enough to let the rear wheels toe out mid-corner. That's instant oversteer you didn't ask for.

4. Drop the car 2+ inches on coilovers without addressing the arms and you've now changed the working angle on every single link. Camber goes negative fast, your toe curve gets unpredictable, and the rear contact patch shrinks right when you need it most.

5. Adjustable rear arms before coilovers. Seriously. SPL, Voodoo13, Megan — pick your budget. Get the geometry corrected first, then dial in ride height. Your Z will feel like a completely different car, and your tires will last more than one season.

The suspension is only as good as the geometry you give it. Wheels and fitment matter, but they mean nothing if the arms underneath can't hold their angles.

Save this for when you're shopping.
