Still not over this…

As we were driving through Houston, we heard that the oldest musical society in town (houstonsaengerbund) was hosting a watch party in the basement of Lambert Hall—an iconic performance center in Houston that typically shows operas, concerts, etc. 

On this occasion, it’d be the site of an important World Cup watch party, showing Germany vs Paraguay in the basement below the hall.

The Houston Saengerbund, which was formed back in 1833 by German immigrants as a way to preserve their language, music, and culture, was eager to get together for this matchday on a Monday at 4pm. It’s a tradition they more formally started back in 2022, and it was amazing to see it all unfold for this crucial World Cup game. Overall, the turnout was awesome, the members were super welcoming, and it was a fantastic time!

In the end, things didn’t go as expected and Germany was unable to advance past the Round of 32, but we left with some really great memories overall. Another awesome day on the road!!
