Thomas Kevin Barlow, 57, was found fatally shot at around 4 a.m. Monday in the 9900 block of South State Street in the Roseland neighborhood.

Family members were united in grief on Monday evening as they remembered Barlow.

Authorities said he was shot once in the chest near the 98th Street rail maintenance facility.

Barlow's family described him as a devoted friend and family man who routinely checked on those around him.

Barlow had been with the CTA for 19 years.
