Common Defense on Instagram: "Hold your finger on the dot in the image, then drag it to the side to watch the flag wave. It only moves because we are the ones actually carrying it.

Some people wrap themselves in the flag and call it patriotism. We swore an oath to live it.

250 years ago, we told a king no. True patriotism was never about performing loyalty for a photo op.

It is loving this country enough to hold it accountable to its highest ideals, the same ideals plenty of politicians invoke and none of them live.

Veterans did not swear an oath to a president or a party. We swore it to the Constitution, and that oath does not expire when the uniform comes off.

We still do not do kings, and we are not letting anyone hijack what this day actually means.
