PENNSYLVANIA! Great news: Mom-powered, parent-powered, community-powered, fantastic, and much-needed paid family and medical leave is moving forward in PA! The Family Care Act has passed the Pennsylvania State House and is poised for a final vote soon in the Pennsylvania State Senate.  Talk about MOMentum!  

Thanks to the more than 40,000 Pennsylvania MomsRising members who have been working on paid family and medical leave for years and years (!!): Going to the state capitol in rain, sleet, snow and sun; sharing their stories with the media and leaders; meeting with their state legislators; speaking at launches; making thousands (and thousands) of phone calls to leaders; signing on letters to legislators together and then delivering them in-person more times than we can count – and even flying kites to grab the attention of media and leaders that paid family and medical leave “lifts families, businesses, and the economy.”  The creativity of messaging is inspiring and also includes delivering sandwiches to leaders to demonstrate how families are crunched between caring for both the younger and older generations at the same time.  

All of this together, along with working in collaboration with many fantastic organizations and leaders over time, is fueling this powerful momentum. Thank you to every single volunteer, leader, and organization that is not giving up!  Winning takes many organizations and people working together— and we all are doing just that!

IT’S TIME, PA! We know parents need to be there for their baby’s first breath and their parents last.  We also know that the USA is one of only 6 countries on the planet earth that doesn’t have this critical paid family leave policy in place.  We know that businesses, the economy, and public health do better when this critical policy is in place.  And, we know we can do better by marching state wins toward our nation’s capitol with the goal of universal access to paid family and medical leave no matter where a person works or lives. #PaidLeaveForAll #CareCantWait
