AI is entering its accountability phase.

The Bank of England is warning that agentic AI may require regulatory reform in finance.

That matters because agents are not just chatbots.

They do things.

They can move through workflows.

Interact with systems.

Make decisions.

Trigger actions.

And eventually, influence markets at machine speed.

The old rulebook was written for humans using tools.

The new reality is machines acting with agency.

At the same time, China’s humanoid robot boom is hitting friction.

The country has poured billions into robotics, but Reuters reports only about 12,000 humanoids were sold last year, mostly for research.

That is the gap.

AI software is moving fast.

Robotics is moving through gravity.

Through cost.

Through liability.

Through messy human environments.

The signal is clear:

Agents need governance.

Robots need proof.

The next AI winners will not be the flashiest demos.

They will be the systems that can be trusted, audited, insured, deployed, and scaled without breaking the world around them.
