A research team has developed a chip-based metasurface biosensor that can detect traumatic brain injury biomarkers at extremely low levels. 

By integrating adaptive optics with parallel optical coherence tomography, the team developed a non-invasive imaging technique that captured high-speed 3D views of individual cells in the living retina. This breakthrough overcomes continuous, involuntary eye movements to allow for early detection and precise monitoring of blinding chorioretinal diseases before irreversible vision loss can happen.
