This past year, our #BULaw faculty and staff have been recognized for their legal expertise, service to their communities, and commitment to the profession with many national honors and appointments. 

Take a look back at some of their recent recognitions: 

⭐ Susan Akram received a 2025 “Top Women of Law” award from Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 

⭐ Brooke Arlington and Rebecca Pendleton were named Boston University Institute for Excellence in Teaching & Learning 2026 Shipley Academic Innovation Award Winners 

⭐ James Bessen received the Society for the Study of Economic Inequality’s (ECINEQ) Atkinson Prize

⭐ Jade Brown was honored as a 2026 Up & Coming Lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, a 2025 ABA Free Legal Answers Pro Bono Leader by the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service, and was named to the Association of American Law Schools Pro Bono Honor Roll along with Eron Hackshaw 

⭐ Julie Dahlstrom won the 2026 Metcalf Cup and Prize, Boston University’s highest teaching honor, and was awarded the CLEA Outstanding Advocate Award 

⭐ Shira Diner was named a 2026 Lawyer of the Year by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 

⭐ Jonathan Feingold was elected to the Society of American Law Teachers Board of Governors 

⭐ Marni Goldstein Caputo and Kathleen Luz were selected as the recipients of the Neil Hamilton Professional Identity Formative Distinguished Scholar Award 

⭐ Mandie LeBeau was appointed to the Boston Bar Association Council 

⭐ Dean Angela Onwuachi-Willig co-won the Exceptional Academia Award at the National Bar Association Women Lawyers Division Gertrude E. Rush Annual Breakfast

⭐ Jef Pearlman was named a 2026 Innovation in Legal Education honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 

⭐ Katharine Silbaugh won the 2026 Boston University Provost’s Scholar-Teacher of the Year Award 

⭐ Rephael Stern was one of two recipients of the AALS Section on International Law Junior Scholar Award
