Darnell Nurse was ALMOST a Bruin 😳

According to a report by David Pagnotta on the DFO Rundown podcast, the Bruins and Edmonton Oilers had a trade in place where they would swap Darnell Nurse for an unnamed player on the Bruins with trade protection in their contract. 👀

“There was a trade-in place to send Darnell Nurse to Boston and the player that was involved had had a no trade or no movement cause one or the other and wasn’t willing to wave that so as a result, they executed the San Jose deal as the day progressed… but there was a deal. Our understanding is there was a trade in place with the Bruins that would’ve sent a player on their team that currently has no trade protection and that player was not willing to waive their no trade protection in order to make this trade happen and then there was a pivot and then end up being San Jose.” — Pagnotta on DFO Rundown

Nurse, 31, scored 24 points in a full 82 game 2025-26 season. The San Jose Sharks ended up trading for him and taking on the entirety of his $9.25M cap hit, which will pay him until 2030.
