What’s the best thing to eat on race day for Hyrox?

The best race day nutrition isn’t complicated.

It’s familiar.

Here’s what I recommend:

🥣 2–3 hours before the race
Eat a meal that’s high in carbohydrates, moderate in protein, and low in fat and fiber.

Some great options:
• Oatmeal with maple syrup or honey
• White rice with a small amount of chicken
• Bagel with jam
• Toast with honey and a banana

The goal is to top off your glycogen stores without upsetting your stomach.

☕ 30–60 minutes before
If you tolerate it well:
• Caffeine
• Electrolytes
• Beet root (if you’ve practiced with it)
• Sodium bicarbonate (only if you’ve tested it in training)

🏃 During the race
If your race will be longer than about 75 minutes, consider taking 1–2 carbohydrate gels depending on your expected finish time.

But here’s the most important rule…

Nothing new on race day.

If you haven’t eaten it before a hard training session…

Don’t eat it before your biggest race.

By race day, you should have practiced your nutrition 50 times.

You shouldn’t be wondering if it’ll work.

You should know.

Great nutrition isn’t about finding a secret.

It’s about removing uncertainty.
