Hand-pleating, knotting, and draping transform metallic fabrics, iridescent textures, and soft silver netting resembling chicken wire, mirroring the way Benglis’ work shifts from two-dimensional to sculptural form. Her “Peacock” series, inspired by the vibrant birds of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India, is reimagined as intricate floral embroidery and beading on garments and sheer shoes. Antique 18th-century Indian chintz fragments—symbolising a lasting exchange between India and European decorative arts—adorn Petit Dîner and mini Lady Dior bags, complemented by sculptural handbags and jewellery crafted in green onyx, mother-of-pearl, and micro-mosaics. Connecting influences from Ahmedabad’s lush landscapes to Santa Fe’s crystalline air, Anderson creates a dialogue between craft, culture, and material, exploring couture as a continuous evolution of form.
